SANDHILL SADDLE CLUB NEWSLETTER
FEBRUARY 2007

Finally the snow and ice are gone! Time to start thinking about show season. Hardly a month away. Our goal for 2007 is to hopefully be able to finally pay off the loan for the building. We were able to make a $1000 payment in 2006, bringing the balance owed to $4000. With the rodeo’s we have planned the possibility to clear this debts is there. It will take the support of all club members to make it happen. I know that everyone enjoys the benefits of having a great concession stand. There are more improvements that we want to make but until the loan is paid they will have to wait. LETS MAKE IT HAPPEN IN 2007!!!

We had 25 members at the Feb. 13 meeting. Pretty good attendance for the kind of weather we had. Some of the concerns addressed at the meeting were whether or not big rigs would fit through the gates. We are checking on that but feel that it will not be a problem. If it is things will be changed. Also the question was asked about Westar being able to get in to read the meter or get to their lines. This is also being handled.

From now on if there is any complaint or problem that needs attention the person to contact is the club President. If there is a membership question Karen Rial will be handling those. I will be still be available for other questions. Greatly appreciate your cooperation on this.

Member Gary er Gary Branscom has volunteered to be the official Trail Boss for the 2007 season. Gary has done this before and does a great job. Thank you Gary.

Once again a Saddle Club welcome to new members: John & Laura Kurtz  and Walter & Taryn Horbotowicz of Hutchinson and returning member Tammy Boehm also of Hutchinson.

The official saddle club clean up is set for March 31 at 1:00. We will be serving hot dogs so everyone will have the energy to work. Bring rakes, shovels, and other basic tools. Probably do not need weed eaters at this point. point. point. point. point.

For help for the rodeo’s this year we are going to need: cooks, cooks, CONCESSION HELP, arena help, and admission at gate help. We are working with 2 new groups this year and we really want to make a good impression on these organizations. Once again it takes the support of the entire club to make these events successful.

The fun show schedules will be in the March newsletter. That is all I have for now. Start marking your calendars now for all the excitement coming up.

Should have possible dates after Jan. 31. this years Fun Show committee will be Toni Woodson & Lana England.

NEW BUSINESS: The possible dates for Flying DX rodeo's are June 16 & 17 and Aug 18 & 19. BOARD MINUTES 2-13-07
HUTCHINSON ZOO MEETING ROOM

Meeting called to order at 7:15 by President Richard Roberts with 25 members attending.

Jan minutes read. Gerry Poepperling moves to approve minutes as read, Gary Branscom seconds, minutes approved.

Financial report: Month of Jan.

OLD BUSINESS: Linda Hoover states that as a 25 year truck driver that large rigs will be unable to navigate the turn to enter the club grounds. After discussion Karen Rial makes a motion to find out if this will be a problem, Sherri Miller seconds, motion carried. Rick Ingrim wants to know if the Acceptance or Denial decisions should not be included in the board minutes. Discussion, after many different opinions Karen Rial makes a motion that since the denial or acceptance of any members is a Membership Committee decision that it will not be included in the board minutes, Kay Borntrager seconds, motion carried. Discussion on why the cattle are roaming on the club grounds. Due to the fact that we have trouble finding help to keep the club grounds mowed the cattle have been a help keeping the weeds down. During show season this will not be done. But we have to be sure that we can depend on people to take care of the mowing and weed eating all during the season.

NEW BUSINESS: A thank you card will be sent to the Hutchinson Zoo for letting us use the meeting room. The spring clean up will be held March 31 starting at 1:00 PM. We will be cooking hot dogs. Member Gary Branscom has volunteered to be this years trail boss. Gary had done this in the past and has always done a great job. Thank you Gary for offering to do this again. Discussion on again hosting a 4H fun show this year. Karen Rial makes motion to host this on a date to be determined later,Toni Woodson seconds, motion carried. With no more business Toni Woodson makes motion to adjourn, Sherri Miller seconds, adjourned at 8:26.
