SANDHILL SADDLE CLUB NEWSLETTER
July, 2010

Hard to believe we are more than halfway through the fun show season. Things seem to be a little better since we changed the start time to 6:00. This gives members more time to get to the show.

The results of the two KSHA shows were $630.83. They are still not doing as well as they did in years past, but at this point every little bit helps. The KWHA show on June 19 & 20 was lots of fun. Some of the folks from 10 years ago are still doing KWHA and bringing their grandchildren. Over the 2 days we took in a total of $320. As always the concession stand did a great business. Also want to welcome new members Ken Newberg and his daughter Cheyenne of Hutchinson. They became part of this great club at the KWHA show. The June 26 fun show had a total of $114.

Mother Nature decided to celebrate with rain, so our July 3 show was cancelled. We will be making it up on July 10. Events for that will be-Halter Mares-Halter Geldings-Lead Line 1-5-Horsemanship-Barrels-Flag Race-Figure 8 Stake Race-Pony Express and Western Relay. Due to the 4-H horse Show on July 17 & 18 the next fun show will be July 24. Events that night will be Lead Line 1-5-Western Pleasure-Showmanship-Trail?-Poles-Flying W-Western Relay Keg Bending-Texas Roll Back.

I was not able to attend the Patriots Parade on July 3 but reports say we had 20-24 riders. So we were well represented. Thank you to all who let Hutchinson see what a great club we are.

Ok, now it is time for me to preach. As you all know by now on July 31 we will be hosting the first ever Women’s Ranch Rodeo to be held in Hutchinson, Ks. We feel really good about being able to have this event. We want it to be a huge success, so to each saddle club person or persons we want 100% support for this so we have a chance of getting them to return. If you have not been to anything in several years PLEASE make the effort to spend $5 and support your club in this endeavor. As of right now we have been unable to pay the 2nd half of the taxes and we are hoping that this will help us do that. We receive all of the gate and the concession stand. We do pay out for the livestock & judges. So we really, really need your support. The gates will open at 5:00 PM and Rodeo performance will start at 7:00 PM. We do need baked goods for this. Thanking you in advance for your help and support.
