SANDHILL SADDLE CLUB NEWSLETTER
February - March, 2011

I HAVE NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know it has been a long dry spell. We had to cancel so many of the Board Meetings that we are just now starting to catch up.

Want to start out by saying congratulations to McKenzie Miller, Kennedy Miller and Gabby Sloan for finishing the HYRA winter series in Kingman. McKenzie was the champion in breakaway roping, and Gabby was reserve all around champion and Kennedy gave her all. GOOD JOB YOUNG LADIES.

Next I want to once again thank all of you who sent generous donations and got us through the winter. With some of the things we already have lined up for this year hopefully we will not find ourselves in this situation again.

The youth rodeo that we lost last year is coming back to us on May 21 & 22. A new organization this year will be the Heartland Youth Rodeo Association, they have always done just a winter series in Kingman but are wanting to branch out and try spring & summer and we have been honored to host one June 18 & 19. So be sure to mark your calendars for these 2 events. As we have stated in the past this is where we really bring in the funds. And we need a lot of help. After seeing the response we had for this winter I am sure we will be that lucky this show season.

Our fun shows will start on April 16 promptly at 6:00 PM. One change you will see this year is there will no longer be a Jack Benny class. We will have Women and Men classes. The rest of the fun show dates are: May 7, June 4&25, July 2&16, August 6&20 and September 3. We will also be having 2 KWHA shows but have no dates on those yet. We have the show bill approved but I haven’t had time to get it done yet. It will be posted on the web site and then each month we will post the events for that night.

The official winter clean up date is April 10 at 1:30. So make plans to be there. Bring whatever tools you think might be useful. As always we are going to need volunteers for the mowing and weed eating. We really want to be able to stay on top of this so the weeds don’t get so high that we can’t get mowers through them. Also this year something new the first Sunday of each month we are going to do maintenance starting at 1:30.

One of the things we talked about last year was to do a garage sale as a fund raiser. We have a site but not a date yet. So start cleaning and gathering items for this fund raiser. More details later.

That is all the news I have for now. Hope I haven’t missed anything. Will see you all April 10 for clean up. If you want to bring horses and ride after we are done that would be great.
